Allison Malinsky, a native of both New Hampshire and New York City, now lives and works in both the city center of Granada, Spain and New York. She is constantly inspired by her surroundings and its history. She is influenced by great artists of her current region as well as others, notably the painters Philip Guston and Helen Frankenthaler.  Guston's bold figurative works as well as Frankenthaler's minimal stain paintings are fuel to Malinsky's own ‘mixed period’ painting style.  She ties impressionable interiors and natural landscapes with intriguing characters using bright oil color and acrylic stain. Those who view her painted spaces fall into the layered caves of her inner mind and are captivated by images of vulnerably and intense power. Her abstract figurative paintings of grand hotel lobbies, poured with paint and distinguished by their economy of line-work, received an emerging artist feature on Philips de Pury ART Expert. Her energetic paintings reflect her vibrant disposition and capture the essence of the artist herself.

Malinsky received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in sculpture and painting, respectively, from New York University. She shows with Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts and works with independent art dealer Leslie Gerber-Seid in New York City. Malinsky is a member of the art collective, Nomadic Center for Institutionless Learning (NCIL), a reciprocal learning collaborative where members are both teachers and students.
